I am currently in the process of making a friend's wedding cake. It will be a 4 tier cake with 6, 8 & 10 inch sponge cakes. The 12 inch tier is a fruit cake that I've just baked. It weighs 1 & 1/2 stone!! I was planning on stacking the cakes and placing this on either a glass or ceramic pedestal stand. I'm now concerned that the stand would not take this weight. Does anyone have any experience of this dilemma.
